Overview
Bolt is a tech startup that produces solar power banks for those who enjoy being outdoors yet rely on technology simultaneously. Bolt is focused on creating powerful solar chargers that can go anywhere the user can. The brand has decided that creating packaging to house their designs should be eco-friendly in support of the environment.

Problem
A package had to be developed that would be well received by its target audience of outdoorsman, 16-25,
while contributing to green living practices that help conserve our natural resources. It was a priority to make the package completely eco-friendly but to not sacrifice a well executed design. Bolt also needed a way to widen its core demographic, but wanted to avoid using ads or commercials.

Solution
Recycled cardboard makes the entire package completely green and gives the product a more rugged look and feel. To protect the charger and its components a multi layered shelf was engineered that could be reused as a housing for the product when transported. A slip cover with a die cut allows for consumers to view the charger and solar cell panel before purchasing. A small instructional panel is included underneath the product that has the companies slogan on the back “power to explore”. Along with the packaging Scout was also developed to help bring in new customers. Scout is a social media app that tracks bolt users as they venture into the wilderness. Scout users can upload images of their trips, trip descriptions, and trail ratings so others can view them on their feed. Along with being able to view others traveling logs a Scout user can also bookmark trips so they can begin planning their own version in the future.
